Sonanza
Sonanza
Sonanza was formed in 1982 by a group of prominent young instrumentalists who shared a keen interest in modern music. The ensemble celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2012. The ensemble consists of a combination of strings, woodwind, percussion and song, which allows unlimited freedom in the choice of programs.
Reflections for soprano, flute, clarinet and string quartet was composed in 1982 as a direct continuation of a composition assignment at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, which consisted in composing a short piece for a small ensemble of the same kind as in Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire.
Ur is written for five musicians, live electronics and two Macintosh computers. The title of the work alludes both to the antique Sumerian city, and to the many meanings of the word Ur in the Swedish language.
