Doris Soffel

On this album the German mezzo-soprano Doris Soffel sings a collection of virtuoso arias from great classical operas by, among others, Mozart, Donizetti and Ravel.

Doris Soffel was a steady member of the ensemble at the state opera of Stuttgart 1973–82. There she sang all the important parts of the repertoire and thus she created a foundation for her international carrier. She makes guest appearances on the international opera scene and performs on festivals on a regular basis. She has worked together with Herbert von Karajan, Zubin Mehta, Lorin Maazel, George Solti and many other conductors of international fame.

The album contains parts from Stabat Mater (Pergolesi) Titus (Mozart), Tancredi, La Donna del Lago, Le siège de Corinthe, Maometto II and L’Italiana in Algeri (Rossini), La Favorita (Donizetti) Martha (von Flotow) the Huguenots (Meyerbeer), Carmen (Bizet), and Schehérazade (Ravel).
