Raschèr Saxophone Quartet

Swedish 20th Century Music

The Raschèr Saxophone Quartet was founded in 1969 in the USA by four enthusiasts of the saxophone. The initiative was taken by Sigurd Raschèr who had been travelling around the world as a saxophone player since the 1930s.

The quartet, based in Europe since 1982, became ardent performers of contemporary music. Many leading composers have written music specifically for the quartet.

On this recording the quartet plays Swedish 20th century music by Maurice Karkoff, Erland von Koch, Miklòs Maros, Sven-David Sandström and Werner Wolf Glaser. Music by Johann Sebastian Bach is also included.
