ANIARA

Karl-Birger Blomdahl, Harry Martinson

The ”space opera” Aniara by Karl-Birger Blomdahl to a libretto by Erik Lindegren and based on an epic poem by Harry Martinson, is one of the greatest successes in Swedish opera over the times. This concert version of the opera was recorded in the Berwald Hall in Stockholm in May 1985. Stig Westerberg conducts the Radio Symphony Orchestra. Erik Saedén sings the part of the “Mimarob” just as he did at the première of the opera in 1959.

In remaining parts we hear: Lena Hoel, Viveka Anderberg, Jerker Arvidson, Björn Haugan, Stefan Parkman and Mikael Samuelson.
