Strindberg and music
Various Artists
This CD wants to mirror the deeply personal and at times conventional musical world of the Swedish author August Strindberg.
Presented are, in the form of chamber music, the composers who were of great importance to Strindberg: Beethoven, Bach, Schubert, Schumann, Rangström, Grieg, Peterson-Berger and Strindberg’s own brother Axel. A work by Strindberg himself, the Song of the Water Spirit, is also presented. When Strindberg was not able to get the composers interested in his texts, he simply, being the eternal all-rounder, wrote the music himself.
