Stockholm Symphonic Wind Orchestra 3

Brian Priestman & Osmo Vänskä

Stockholm Symphonic Wind Orchestra, conductors Brian Priestman and Osmo Vänskä, plays music by Arne Mellnäs, Aram Khatchaturian, Nikolaj Rimski-Korsakov, Gustav Holst and Torbjörn Iwan Lundquist.

The symphonic wind music was poorly represented on CD in Sweden when Caprice Records and the Stockholm Symphonic Wind Orchestra released a series of 3 CDs in 1991, Cap 21384, 21414 and 21415. The series can be seen as a portrait of an orchestra in constant evolution. It mirrors the policy of the orchestra of the late 1980s: to present original music for wind orchestra in collaboration with internationally active guest conductors.
