Stockholm Saxophone Quartet

Featuring Iwa Sörenson & Boel Adler

The Stockholm Saxophone Quartet, one of Sweden’s most interesting groups performing contemporary music, consists of the four saxophone players Sven Westerberg, Jörgen Pettersson, Leif Karlborg and Per Hedlund.

During the 1980s and 1990s the group developed into a very attractive ensemble for contemporary music. The four dedicated musicians have stubbornly sizzled out their technique and freed themselves from the lack of repertoire and the neo classical conventions of the genre. Together with a row of composers they have created a new power zone in contemporary Swedish music.

In the work by Henrik Strindberg “Hjärtats slag” (Heartbeat) Michael Pettersson plays the flute. In Göran Gamstorps “Barnet i skogen” (The Child in the Forest) the mezzo soprano Boel Adler sings, and in “The Green Rose” by Anders Eliasson we listen to the soprano Iwa Sörenson and the percussionist Leif Karlsson directed by Leif Lyng.
