Schnittke: Requiem – Górecki: Miserere
Requiem/Miserere
Sweden’s Radiokören (Swedish Radio Choir) has existed in various forms since 1925, and is, therefore, one of Europe’s oldest radio choirs. Its current form was established in 1952 when Eric Ericson was appointed as principle conductor. Since then, the Radiokör has evolved into one of the world’s leading ensembles of its kind. The choir has a top international reputation, gained through tours, recordings, and other activities. This timely disc was issued in cooperation with Caprice Records and Sveriges Radio P2 (Swedish Radio’s station P2), in celebration of the choir’s 70th anniversary.
The Radiokör takes part, annually, in a series of concerts and recordings, mostly in Stockholm’s Berwaldhallen (Berwald Concert Hall), but also in other Swedish cities. The choir often collaborates with Sveriges Radios Symfoniorkester (Sweden’s Radio Symphony Orchestra) but also with some foreign orchestras like the London Philharmonic Orchestra, La Scala in Milan, and the Berliner Philharmoniker (Berlin Philharmonic).
The Radiokör collaborates with many composers, who have written pieces specifically for them, for example: Sven-Erik Bäck, Thomas Jennefelt, Ingvar Lidholm, and Sven-David Sandström.
