Pettersson: Symphony No 7 – Mozart: Bassoon Concerto

Conductor: Sergiu Comissiona

The Rumanian conductor Sergiu Comissiona directed the works of Allan Pettersson in concerts all over the world. This sensitive interpretation of the 7th symphony was recorded at the Berwald Concert Hall in Stockholm in October 1990.

There is something that immediately moves the listener in Allan Pettersson’s music. A presence and directness in the music that is difficult to resist. The long one movement symphony is a drama where terrible precipices and brutal frontal attacks coexist with a celestial desire for beauty, an often unexpected experience for listeners of contemporary music.

Knut Sönsevold plays the bassoon in the Mozart concerto, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra plays directed by Sergiu Comissiona.

This almbum was recorded in collaboration with the Swedish Cancer Society.
