Olle Persson & Mats Bergström

Mats Bergström has made numerous recordings. He is an internationally active soloist, accompanist and ensemble player in several genres. He has an extensive repertoire, with emphasis on the early 19th century and our own time.

Mats Bergström has also collaborated with Mikael Samuelson in songs by the classical Swedish songwriters Bellman, Taube and Birger Sjöberg.

The miller girl being courted by different characters was a common theme in the late 18th century literature and music. Franz Schubert took on the cycle of poems by Wilhelm Müller published in 1824. The plot circles around the young miller, the miller girl and the hunter. The song cycle became a success. The cooperation Schubert-Müller also resulted in song cycle Die winterreise.
