Karin Dornbusch & Gävle Symphony Orchestra

Clarinettist Karin Dornbusch is much sought-after as a soloist and chamber musician in Sweden as well as abroad. On this CD she plays Clarinet Concerto Op. 57 by Carl Nielsen, Clarinet Concerto Op. 30 by John Fernström, and Clarinet Concerto Carpe Diem Op. 38 by Jouni Kaipainen.

Karin Dornbusch made her first Caprice record when she was awarded the Soloist Prize 1996. Karin has performed with many different orchestras and has worked together with ensembles such as the Bartók Quartet, the Rosamunde Quartet and the Tale Quartet.

Since the summer of 2006 Karin Dornbusch has also been the artistic leader for the Båstad Chamber Music Festival.

The Gävle Symphony Orchestra was established as early as 1912. Today it consists of 25 musicians employed full time. Their home turf is the Gävle Concert Hall but they also go on frequent tours. Their conductors have been many and renowned, including Sten Frykberg, Sixten Eckerberg, Stig Westerberg and Petri Sakari (the last-mentioned featured on this CD). The Swedish conductor Petter Sundkvist has been engaged as artistic advisor since 2004.
