Made in Sweden
Stockholm Symphonic Wind Ensemble & Christian Lindberg
Whenever the Stockholm Symphonic Wind Ensemble gives a concert, the concert halls are sold out. Wind ensembles are extremely popular in Sweden, and this is one of the most popular ones. Made in Sweden connects to a tradition with roots in the late 19th century, when brass bands were playing all over the country entertaining people with concerts containing a varied repertoire of marches, new arrangements and potpourris of opera pieces, arias, popular songs and light music.
On the CD we meet a repertoire based on popular tunes from the Swedish classical repertoire, classical evergreens by Alfvén and Söderman, and contemporary classics from the film and the singer-songwriter tradition. Modern times are represented by a medley of contemporary pop tunes (with songs by Laleh, Salem Al Fakir and Andreas Johnson among others). Conductor is the extremely popular Christian Lindberg and soloist is the beloved baritone Olle Persson.
