Hans Leygraf, piano
Three Schubert Recitals
Hans Leygraf (1920 – 2011) was one of Sweden’s foremost pianists. He gave his first public performance at the age of 9. His international breakthrough came in Zürich in 1946. He performed practically everywhere, in Europe, North America and the Far East, collaborating with the world’s most eminent conductors.
He became known to a wider audience not least through his numerous radio and television performances, and through his recordings. He was also a teacher of world standing, with several of the world’s best known pianists among his pupils, and he was a visiting professor at the Hochshule der Künste in Berlin.

Hans Leygraf carefully planned each of the CDs on this triple album, recorded in 1989 – 90 as self-contained recitals, ending with one of the the three posthumous sonatas from 1928. To these were added, at the beginning of each recital, one of the early sonatas, with a group of landler in between. The very first piece on each disc is a shorter and more rarely performed composition.
