Carl-Axel Dominique, piano

& The Sundsvall Wind Quintet

In 1994 the Sundsvall Wind Quintet and pianist Carl-Axel Dominique  went on a concert tour  together which resulted in this CD. The composers represented on the CD, probably unknown to the great majority of listeners, are: Gordon Jacob (1895 – 1984), Ludwig Thuille (1861– 1907), Gilbert Vinter (1909 – 1969) and Jacques Ibert (1890 – 1962).

For many years now, Carl-Axel Dominique has ranked as one of Sweden’s most successful pianists. Over the years he has been keenly active in performing and launching piano music by Alkan and Satie. More recently he has also been playing quite a lot of Messiaen, and today he is widely regarded as one of the foremost Messiaen interpreters of our time.
