Stockholm Symphonic Wind Orchestra 1

Works by Stravinsky, Dvorak, Naumann et al

1992 Caprice Records released 3 CDs with the Stockholm Symphonic Wind Orchestra (Cap 21415 and 21415). The aim was to show the breadth in the repertoire of symphonic wind music – with regard to space, time and size of orchestra – and familiarize the public with the fascinating world of the wind orchestra.

The purpose was also that the records would serve as an inspiration for the wind music community in Sweden.

The CD-series with the Symphonic Wind Orchestra can be seen as a portrait of an orchestra in constant progress. It mirrors the policy of the orchestra: to present original music for wind instruments, under the leadership of internationally active conductors and with high- classed soloists.

The conductors on this CD are: David Porcelijn, Sixten Ehrling, Per Lyng and Martin Turnovsky, and they conduct works by Florent Schmitt, Igor Stravinskij, Sigfried Naumann and Antonin Dvorak.
