Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra

Sibelius, Fordell, Svendsen, Nielsen, Kuula, Madetoja & Grieg

The Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra was founded by Juha Kangas in 1972 and went professional in 1989. The orchestra soon became known for its sensitive interpretations of both of contemporary, mainly Nordic works, and music with folk roots.

Many composers have written specifically for the orchestra, e.g  Pehr Henrik Nordgren with12 compositions.  Another composer who has collaborated with the orchestra is Anders Eliasson. Many internationally known soloists have performed with the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, e.g. Gidon Kremer, Oleg Kagan, Grigorij Sokolov and Edith Mathis. The orchestra tours internationally at regular intervals.

On this record the orchestra plays music by Sibelius, Svendsen, Nielsen, Kuula, Madetoja and Grieg.
