Barnents International Chamber Choir

Beginning with Jaakko Mäntyjärvi’s magnificent choral work dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives in the Estonia disaster and ending with Sven Ahlin’s setting of Martin Luther King´s freedom speech, the Barents International Chamber Choir and Erik Westberg mark out the realities of our time and our world. It is a powerful, vivid and well-conceived CD that touches upon the conditions of our existence.

The Barents International Chamber Choir is a professional ensemble that was formed in 2003. The ensemble has 24 members who were recruited from the Barents region: Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. This international mix of singers makes the choir quite unique. The acclaimed and internationally appreciated and established choir conductor, Erik Westberg, has been the initiator and the prime mover in the founding of the choir and the choral center.
