Francisca Skoogh, piano

Bartok, Prokofiev, Ravel & Skrjabin

Francisca Skoogh was the 1998 year winner of the prestigious Soloist Prize. On this CD she presents four works for piano, spanning over 75 years of musical creativity.

This is a bold program, covering an extensive repertoire, from the illusively simple, in the waltzes by Ravel, to the dynamic expressiveness in Prokofiev’s seventh sonata. People, who were present at the recording session in the big hall of Academy of Music in Stockholm, will tell about the uninterrupted intensity with which Francesca went in for the material.

Her artistic maturity is of a kind that permitted her – in collaboration with the recording technician – to come up with suggestions for alternative sound pictures that would enhance the inner line of thought in the material. What we get is an astonishing CD debut by a young artist, technically clever, artistically expressive, with a complete control over the means to achieve the result intended.
