EMS 30 Years
The Electronic Music Studio – 30 years
In 1964 the board of the Swedish Radio decided to build Sweden’s first professional electronic music studio. This triple CD was released to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the studio, with the aim to reflect the different temperaments of the composers working in the EMS studios throughout the years.
This is not a full-length portrait of EMS, as one of the criteria of selection was to publish material that was not previously available on CD.

The history of EMS is also portrayed in two interesting essays, one of them by Knut Wiggen, creator of the studio and its first Director, and the other by another former Director and a pioneer of Swedish electro-acoustic music, Lars-Gunnar Bodin.
