Amanda Sedgwick

The 1996 Jazz in Sweden award went to saxophone player Amanda Sedgwick. She has composed the music on this CD herself, a suite for her own quartet extended with a string quartet, clarinet and flute. This is modern jazz with strong influences from the European art music of the 20-th century.

The suite was originally born out of a degree project at the Stockholm College of Music, but it has been partially rearranged for this CD. Earlier Amanda has written music both for string quartet and big band.

The musicians of the ensemble are, besides her own group with Magnus Broo on trumpet, Filip Augustson, bass, and Jesper Kviberg, drums, also Anders Inge and Torsten Nilsson, violins, Mikael sjögren viola, Per Blendulf cello, Susanne Hörberg flute and Johan Söderlund Clarinet. Conductor is Jonas Dominique.
