Max Schulz

Guitar

The 1993 Jazz in Sweden award was given to Max Schultz. According to the jury Max had developed a clever and personal way of playing the guitar.

He had also made a strong impact in a number of groups where he had been a source of inspiration to other musicians, and thus proven himself ready for a debut in his own right. Max Schultz has made a name for himself in groups like Encore, Stina Nordenstam’s Flippermen and Håkan Broströms In and Out. He has also performed with his own trio and on numerous occasions played with Herbie Hancock during his visits to Sweden. Max Schultz writes his own material, and here he performs together with leading Swedish musicians such as Joakim Milder, tenor and soprano saxophones, Christian Spering, double bass and Anders Kjellberg, drums.
