The Snake
Wildbirds & Peacedrums
The snake – a symbol of betrayal, malevolence and evil – is the theme of Wildbirds & Peaced¬rums’ album, “The Snake”. Here is a sinister, more powerful sound than on the debut “Heartcore” (released by Found You Recordings), deriving largely from their desire to probe the darker sides of themselves and their world. The result is a complex, multifaceted album, its many faces linked by a common thread: the snake.
The Snake was recorded over three days in Svenska Grammofonstudion in Gothenburg, home to the likes of Soundtrack of Our Lives, Håkan Hellström and José Gonzales. And the recording is indeed more rock than jazz. For three days they laid the groundwork, and for another three they added the extras, using such instruments as oil drums, xylophones, santours (a Per¬sian dulcimer), synths and zithers, to name but a few.
