Music from Guatemala 1
Brass Orchestras, Flutes & Marimbas
Guatemala today is the home of a large variety of musical forms, each with its own cultural roots. Here are recordings of village brass bands, of flute and string music from some of the many local indigenous cultures, and – not least – several forms of music played on marimba, the countries national instrument.
The CD was recorded in Guatemala in January 1999. Among the musicians we find the Soul of Sololá Marimba Group, Grupo de Pito, Tambour y Cajita and the Fine Arts Consert Marimba of The Ministry of Culture.
