Music from Ecuador

On this CD you will find an interesting selection from the rich variety of traditional musical styles of Ecuador. A production team went on an intensive recording trip and recorded no less than 16 groups from different parts of the country. The suggestive music of the Andes with its pre Columbian roots is mixed with traditional dance rhythms of the cities and the hot rhythms with African roots. You will also find examples of the music of the Jivaro Indians in the Amazonas.

The CD was recorded digitally by Torbjörn Samuelsson who, together with Ecuadorian musicologists and the producer Sten Sandahl, travelled the country with a mobile recording equipment.
