Blue Pages

The Jazz in Sweden award 1997 was given to the group Blue Pages. It consisted of the two saxophone players Fredrik Carlquist and Henrik Frisk, pianist Jacob Karlzon, bass player Mattias Svensson and drummer Peter Danemo.

Blue Pages played music composed by all the band’s members, evolving thematic structures and simple ideas into consummate musical masterpieces which generously opened up to a variety of modern jazz styles. Even though they had not played previously in this particular constellation, the musicians knew each other well and made up a close-knit, interactive team. Young jazz from the nineties at its best.
