Palle Danielsson

Contra Post

Palle Danielsson has toured with likes of Keith Jarrett, Jan Garbarek, Charles Lloyd, and Michel Petrucciani. Already as an eighteen-year old, he played in Stockholm with pianist, Bill Evans, and his trio. During the latter part of the 1960s, he worked with George Russell, Steve Kuhn, among others, and he was a member of several of the best-known Swedish groups, including the 1970s Eje Thelin Group.

Palle played with the jazz combo Rena Rama, which, among others, made two recordings on Caprice, one of which was reissued on CD (Cap 21723). He has toured internationally and recorded with many top artists. Today Palle Danielsson works as a freelance bass player, and giving concerts, and recording the world over.

Palle Danielsson’s playing extends way beyond the boundaries of jazz – he plays for example, in various folk music groups. For him, jazz is not a definite, distinct style – it is a starting place for a free imagination, and it invites one to exciting encounters, and a blend of a most varied kind.

On the CD we hear Palle Danielsson and Joakim Milder on saxophones, Rita Marcotulli on piano, and Anders Kjellberg on drums.
