Taximi
In Northern Latitudes
Greek folk music from Sweden. That’s what Taximi offers on the CD “På nordliga breddgrader” (In Northern latitudes) which features a broad spectrum of the riches of Greek tradition, above all the rebetiko and smyrneiko styles, which have been and still are the main ones to most Greeks all over the world. Taximi also does a number of recently composed laika songs.
Taximi was founded in 1989 by Greeks living in Sweden. The group acts as ambassador and allows its “non-Greek” audience to listen to the voluntary emigrant’s thoughts and words set to freshly written music.
