Folk Tunes from Jämtland

The fiddlers, most of whom were 70 or 80 years old at the time of the recordings and all of whom had derived their tunes from older relatives and teachers, convey a full picture of the Lapp-Nils tradition. They include two diddlers; Erik Axel Näsström from Alanäs and Måns Olsson from Mattmar, a clarinettist; Eric Nilsson from Mattmar, and five fiddlers; Nestor Löfströmand and Anders Mårtensson from Ström, Olle Falkand and Per Viktor Röst from Offerdal and Bengt Bixo from Mörsil.

Many variants of the tunes are documented, both in and outside Jämtland and in Norway, but these unique recordings are a sounding treasure in their own right.
