It would be wrong to say that Swedish jazz is leading a languishing life. On the contrary, due to the emergence of the younger generation of jazz musicians that has stepped forward and pushed jazz music into the 21st Century. At the same time the Swedish jazz scene have a rich and respectable tradition of many fine Swedish jazz musicians, many of them are still alive and active.

As a result of the appointed year of jazz 2007 here in Sweden, Caprice Records took on the task to collect some of the fantastic jazz being produced in Sweden in the beginning of the new century. The compilation is done with the intention to display a relatively wide picture of the Swedish jazz scene, and to present well-established musicians side by side with younger and up-coming musicians. The result is an exceptional collection of high quality, innovative and engaging Swedish jazz.
