Berwald x 2
Tor Mann & Sten Broman
Berwald x 2, vol. 4 in the Collectors Classics Series. For all the importance of the orchestral works of Franz Berwald, little is known about them as regards performing practice.
Two forgotten traditions are carefully documented in words and sound, one from the composer through his pupil, the composer and conductor of the royal Orchestra, Conrad Nordqvist, and the other from Henri Marteau and Tor Aulin, progenitors of the Berwald Foundation.

Various interpretations from 1938–68 are presented of one overture and two symphonies; one by Nordqvist’s pupil Tor Mann (1894–1974) and the other by Sten Broman (1902–83), who was taught by Marteau.
