Anita Soldh: Stradella – Grieg

The long-awaited re-release of famed Swedish soprano Anita Soldh’s debut album, featuring her performance of the title role in Antonio Stradella’s baroque masterpiece Salome – a role with which Soldh won great acclaim – as well as some of the most heartfelt and beloved of Edvard Grieg’s songs. As a bonus track, we’ve included a live performance from the Drottningholm Court Theatre of the beautiful duet Là ci darem la mano, from W.A. Mozart‘s opera Don Giovanni, sung together with equally celebrated baritone Håkan Hagegård.

Soldh would continue to build a solid career, and was contracted by the Royal Swedish Opera for over 25 years, until her retirement. She was awarded the title of royal Court Singer (Hovsångerska) in 1992 for her contributions to the art, and has also worked as a much appreciated singing pedagogue.
