There are several ways to search the centre’s collections. The Folk Music Commission's collection contains over 100,000 melodies. Via other databases, it is possible to see if a specific melody is available in the collections and then order it from the archive. The Song and Tune Catalogue

180,000 records of songs and tunes in print publications – from 16th century songbooks to modern ballads and pop tunes.

The Swedish Folk Music Commission

A collection with over 100,000 searchable tunes. Hand-written sheet music from the 18th and 19th centuries, together with collected tunes and songs from different parts of Sweden.

DISMARC

Search the centre’s extensive sound collections in the European portal DISMARC. This also includes collections from other archives, libraries, museums and universities in Europe.

Card catalogues

In the scanned card catalogues materials can be found that are otherwise difficult to access. The cards include hand-written notes and can be difficult to read at times – ask at the centre office for further assistance. Email: info@visarkiv.se

‘First Line’ Registry (Förstaradsregistret)

Do you know the first line? Find the right song among 70,000 melodies by searching for the first line of the text. Includes older material not found in the current collection releases. There is no English version of this service available.
