Christer Landergren’s Collection

Christer Landergren (1941–2006) is one of Sweden’s foremost jazz photographers. Landergrens photo archive, with around 150 000 negatives and thousands of prints, is part of Svenskt visarkiv.

40 Years of Jazz in Sweden

The photographer Christer Landergren portrayed Sweden’s jazz scene and international star guests for 40 years from the mid-1960’s. His photographs are an important basis for those interested in the history of jazz in Sweden in that period and are also of artistic value.

Landergren’s 1960’s

When Christer Landergren pointed his lens at the jazz scene in the 1960‘s, jazz was in a transitional period between popular entertainment and high culture – on its way from dance floors to concert halls. The music also became more and more international.
